Brother, Can You Spare a Priceline Share?

Intro: Investors will be looking toward a very busy week that includes a speech by Janet Yellen, Non-Farm Payrolls and Unemployment

Non-Farm Payrolls & Unemployment Rate: On Friday (5/8), Non-Farm Payrolls and the Unemployment Rate are released. Should payrolls jump and the unemployment rate go lower, it may give ammo for the Fed to increase rates sooner than later

Earnings: Earnings season slows down with 87 companies in the S&P reporting highlighted by Walt Disney, Alibaba, and Priceline. Traders will be watching to see any surprises such as last week’s social media companies misses

Janet Yellen: On Tuesday (5/6), Janet Yellen speaks in a panel discussion in Washington DC. The investment community will be listening to her speech for any hints as to when the FED may raise interest rates.

Big Data Filled Week: This week has a ton of data from across the globe. In addition to the Unemployment Rate and Nonfarm Payrolls, domestically we will see ISM Index, Factory Orders, Consumer Credit and Wholesale Inventories

UK Elections: On Thursday (5/7), UK voters head to the polls. The most likely outcome is a two or three party coalition between either Conservative or Labour and one of the smaller parties. However, should the Conservative party win, we can expect a referendum on membership in the European Union, sooner than later, with the uncertainty having the potential to rattle global markets

PMI Readings: A number of PMI readings across the globe are due out this week. We should see some positive readings as global markets have been far outpacing domestic markets so far this year. If we see this trend continue, we could expect to see additional capital flow in to their respective economies

Oil: The price of Oil increased 21% in the month of April while the number of oil rigs in the US dropped for the 21th consecutive week. Traders will continue to monitor oil’s latest moves
